David Powell

David and Andrew PowellDavid is the President of Timberwolf Tools.  He has been leading the company for over 20 years as it has transitioned from a two page catalog with Makita tools and tracking sales/inventory in Excel spreadsheets to what it is today -- a secure Internet company offering three of the world's finest timber framing tool lines on a highly developed website with an active shopping cart.  While he is the "systems guy" behind the scenes, David also really enjoys working with customers and helping them obtain the right tool for their application.

Prior to Timberwolf Tools, David traveled extensively working for the DuPont Company.  In all, he spent 20 years in the electronics industry on projects that involved chemistry and Kevlar fiber.  After 3 million frequent flier miles, it was finally time to settle down in Freeport and so he became involved in leading Timberwolf Tools.  In 2008, David moved his family and Timberwolf Tools to Newry, Maine where they look out at the Appalachian Trail running over the Mahoosuc Mountains.

Outside of work, David is an active player of tennis and golf, enjoys motorcycle rides through the countryside, hikes many Maine and NH mountains, and skis whenever possible at Sunday River and Sugarloaf mountains.  He has a wonderful family with two grown sons, a fantastic wife and a meaningful faith life.  In between all the adventures, David is rarely found without a camera catching breathtaking scenery around Maine.

Andrew Powell

Andrew is the Shipping and Receiving Manager at Timberwolf Tools, which means that he gets to touch every tool, accessory and part at least 3 times before it ends up in your hands.  He operates the FedEx shipping software, processes Sales Orders, Invoices and makes sure that your tools are safely double-boxed and contain the proper paperwork.  With a near photographic memory, there is no one better suited than Andrew to remember all of our customers and the precise location of our parts.  On the busy days, Andrew gets plenty of help from his colleagues since his job can be the pressure point when the FedEx driver is about to arrive.

As an active sports fan, Andrew knows all the statistics and details about NBA players.  He follows all Chicago and Boston sports teams each season, especially the Celtics and Blackhawks.  Andrew enjoys playing basketball, tennis and golf, and is often found on the double black diamonds at Sunday River over the winter.  He is also a longtime volunteer at the Holy Grounds Coffee House Outreach in Portland, ME.  Books have become a passion over the last number of years, and Andrew reads up a storm.  A music fan who's looking into the Clarinet or Saxophone, he has always had an interest in learning an instrument.  He loves cars and would own a few of his favorites if he could just afford them!  So please order more tools!!

Jeffrey Powell

Jeffrey PowellJeff is the Vice President at Timberwolf Tools, joining the family business in 2014.  He will often answer the phone when you call with questions or place orders, is in charge of demonstrating the tools at trade shows and our shop for walk-in customers, and he works with David on strategic company decisions.

Before coming to Timberwolf Tools, Jeff spent 6 years in the publishing world, including American Builders magazine where he spearheaded a special Timber Framing issue featuring Pam Hinton, Executive Director of the Timber Frame Business Council, and over 20 top TFBC members from as many states/provinces.  He brought in major contractor features and advertisers to the magazine such as Fluor, Turner, MasTec, Yates, and Webcor.

Growing up in Maine, Jeff and his friends honed their carpentry skills by building several catapults capable of throwing bowling balls and pumpkins hundreds of yards and one of the trebuchets used mortise and tenon joinery to successfully hold thousands of pounds of counterweight.  In retrospect, he wishes he had saved himself a lot of time by using a Mafell Z5Ec portable band saw and LS 103Ec chain mortiser instead of a hand saw and chisel!

Jeff and his wife Kate met at Dartmouth College and currently live in Illinois with their son Andrew, daughters Lucy & Grace, and Shepherd/Husky mutt, who has become the unofficial mascot of Timberwolf Tools (to learn his out-of-this-world name, you'll have to call Jeff and ask!)  Jeff leads a small group in his church, enjoys strategy games, and enjoys running (to offset the pork belly & frites he craves at neighborhood gastropubs).  To learn more about Jeff's projects and connect to his extensive network, send him an invitation on LinkedIn and he will gladly accept.

Nick Klomstad

Nick KlomstadNick is the Manager of Operations at Timberwolf Tools, joining the business in January 2019.  He works side-by-side with both Jeff and George in the distribution center in Chicago.

Before coming to work at Timberwolf Tools, Nick worked in various industries including medical device and financial services serving in a variety of client-facing roles.  Nick is also an active real estate investor who enjoys completing various stages of a rehab DIY-style which has included tiling, refinishing hardwood floors, custom cabinetry, and building furniture.

When he is not working at Timberwolf Tools, Nick maintains an active lifestyle that includes international travel, skiing, hunting, frequent visits to the gym and brewing his own beer.

Kate Powell

Nick KlomstadKate is the Manager of Accounting and Logistics at Timberwolf Tools, having joined the company in early 2020.  She works together with David and Jeff to place purchase orders of tools, maintain inventory in our Chicago warehouse, and coordinate various back-office functions to ensure that our business runs smoothly for our customers’ benefit.

Prior to joining Timberwolf, Kate spent 10 years as business owner and designer at a floral company called Fleur du Jour, which specialized in floral design for weddings and other events.  She started the company in 2008 and enjoyed watching it grow over several years to its peak of providing flowers for more than 30 weddings per year in the Chicagoland area.  With a passion for small business, she enjoyed speaking to every client personally, being hands-on at every event, and managing the business behind the scenes. Lifting boxes of glass vases, centerpieces, or hundreds of stems of roses from the wholesaler was perfect training for working in a warehouse of heavy tools, too!  Prior to starting her company, Kate worked in investment management at Northern Trust Bank, which cemented her love of numbers (and proficiency in Excel).

Kate and Jeff live within walking distance to Wrigley Field in Chicago, with their two young children and two dogs.  Kate enjoys taking walks around their neighborhood (with an impromptu stop for a meal or coffee), taking yoga classes, cooking big meals with farmers market finds in the summer, and taking the dogs to the beach for a swim in Lake Michigan.

Alumni

George Bozonelos

George BozonelosGeorge has been the Director of Sales & Marketing at Timberwolf Tools for over 3 years, working side-by-side with Jeff and Nick in the distribution center in Chicago.  He has answered countless questions over the phone and made sure that you get your orders on time.  In between calls and emails, he has kept the website running smoothly - adding new features every day - and supported many other areas of the business.

Before Timberwolf Tools, George also worked in the publishing world in various leadership roles, running several executive and construction publications.

George owns and manages several rental properties with his family and has many renovation and construction projects under his belt.  This experience has given him an appreciation for the quality engineering of the Mafell tools he sells every day, and how much time he could have saved with a track saw!

George lives in the southwest suburbs of Chicago with his wife, Denise, and sons Alex and Dean.

Kate Libby

Kate LibbyKate has been the Sales and Marketing Manager at Timberwolf Tools for over 5 years and currently lives in Texas with her husband Tres and children.  Growing up the daughter of Timber Framer John Libby, she never expected that she would be working in this industry, but it has found a significant place in her heart.  Every time you see a printed ad, pick up a catalogue, go on the website, place an order online, or receive a Christmas card or mass email:  Kate's creative legacy is at work.  Even though she spends a lot of time on the computer, talking to customers and helping them find the best tools to fit their projects is what she likes to do best.

Before coming to work at Timberwolf Tools, Kate lived in Massachusetts on the North Shore where she worked as a teacher.  Upon receiving an offer of employment from Timberwolf Tools, the decision was not difficult to move back to her home state of Maine.

When she is not working at Timberwolf Tools, she is known as "The Mary Kay Lady" in town; teaching skin care and working with other women (and she has men's skin care too!).  She loves spending time with her family out on Matinicus Island, which is 22 miles off the coast of Rockland, Maine.  Traveling extensively, singing, and staying involved in her church are among just a few items which top her list of favorite things to do.

Marc Boutan

Marc BoutanMarc has been the Product Manager at Timberwolf Tools since 2007 and currently lives in South Carolina with his wife Trish.  He has a lot of technical knowledge regarding all of the tools and has been responsible for overseeing the process of getting tools repaired and returned in a timely fashion (fortunately this is a rare activity given the high quality tools we sell!)

A carpenter turned preacher, Marc was in full time carpentry for seven years, with five of those years at Houses & Barns by John Libby in timber framing construction.  He remembers a time when mortising required a 2" auger on a large drill and was around to witness the arrival of the first Makita 7104 mortising machine imported from Japan.  It was a thrill.  While in carpentry, Marc did new construction as well as barn restorations.

He then spent the next sixteen years in full time Christian ministry, keeping his hand in carpentry all the while.  Because Marc is fluent in French, three of those years were spent living in Brussels, Belgium serving at an Anglican Church.  While he is still a priest in the Episcopal Church, Marc was eager to return to construction by way of tool sales.

Marc and his wife have been married for over thirty years, and they have two grown children.  They enjoy pursuing God, kayaking, traveling, organic gardening, baking the best pies, and fixing up their old house together.
