What's NEWS at Timberwolf Tools
....The President's Perspective and David's New Snow Machine....
For many years, I was involved in much of the day-to-day order taking and order fulfillment for our company. It was a lot of fun talking with you and making sure that every one of your orders was fulfilled properly. More recently, Jeff Powell, George Bozonelos and Andrew Powell have been leading this effort and they are every bit as diligent as I was about getting your orders right. They also really enjoy having a chance to talk with you and learn about your tool needs.
Nonetheless, I still see every order that you place each day, and continue to be grateful for your business. I think about you all the time! If there are technical or application questions that Jeff, George or Andrew are not prepared to answer, I gladly get involved. In the rare cases that there are warranty or repair issues, I always have the chance to interface with you and make sure that your tools are repaired properly.
In case you are curious, I would like to take a moment at the beginning of this New Year to briefly share "What's NEWS" at Timberwolf Tools:
Reflecting on Last Year: 2016 was another record year for growth at Timberwolf Tools. Per Jeff and George's reports, your NEWS is that the past year was a positive one for most of you, too. We could not have done it without YOU, so once again a very sincere "thank you" for your business and partnership. We won't let you down and we will always be here to take care of your tool, accessory and part needs.
New Contract: Timberwolf Tools and Mafell AG recently renewed our long-term Contract since both companies are eager to continue to work closely together. We are excited about this renewal since Mafell is an excellent company with fantastic products and people. Timberwolf Tools will continue to have full responsibility for sales, support and dealerships throughout North America and a few smaller regions.
2017 Prices: After considerable discussion with Mafell AG and our other vendors, we have decided to hold our 2017 prices at 2016 levels. Of course, there is no way to perfectly predict the future, so the small print will continue to say "subject to change" but at least this is our goal for 2017. The typical 2% - 4% price increase for Mafell products will not happen this year, barring unforeseen circumstances.
TFG Visionary Partnership: Timberwolf Tools has decided to continue its close partnership with the Timber Framers Guild by renewing its pledge to the Level 3 Visionary Partnership program. We are committed to making sure the TFG is a strong and healthy organization, fully equipped to promote the craft of timber framing to potential home and barn owners, Engineers and Architects, and the civil servants around the USA and Canada that develop new building standards/code. We encourage all timber framers to find some way to be a part of this important organization that helps all of us grow. Hope to see you at the next TFG Conference in Madison, WI from May 20 - 22, 2017. A good opportunity for you to meet both Jeff and George in person, and maybe even Little Andrew.
My Grandson: Little Andrew Powell, Jeff's son, is sitting up and showing a favor for avocado when it's time for solid foods. He is a bundle of laughs, with expressions that always bring joy to his parents, grandparents and Uncle Andrew. There are more babies on the way in the Timberwolf Tools' family so stay tuned for future announcements!
New Website: Speaking of babies, George and Jeff are about to give birth to one of their own creation. Over the last eight months, both of them have poured their spare work time into inventing the new and improved Timberwolf Tools website. Growing up on the current site, and investing a lot of time in it along with our Web Meister Tay Vaughan, I will always have a fondness for timberwolftools.com as it appears today. However, we are far too limited with the current site, and there is so much more information to conveniently and efficiently share with you, so it's time for a new website overflowing with data, photos, videos and easy ways for you to place and pay for orders. Stay tuned for an announcement about the new site going live!
Leasing Options: We work with two excellent Leasing Companies -- one in the USA and the other in Canada. Currently, Marlin Equipment Leasing is offering a "NO PAY Until Tax Day", which you may be interested in if you need $5,000 or more of tools but the early part of the year is cash thin for you. All of our customers that have leased their tools have been very pleased with the way the lease process works. Just give us a call and we will link you up with the right people at these companies.
Service Centers: Like the Maytag repairman, I occasionally repair Mafell tools for customers. Fortunately, there are very few issues that ever arise with Mafell tools. Although I actual enjoy working on tools, we think the time has come for there to be additional resources available to you. One of my goals for 2017 is to develop one or two authorized Mafell Service Centers in North America that are properly equipped and trained to quickly and reliably repair your products if I'm busy with other tasks. If you have any suggestions about existing tool repair companies that have successfully repaired your tools, please let me know your recommendations.
Super Bowl: The New England Patriots vs. the Atlanta Falcons in the Super Bowl.....sounds like a rivalry between Timberwolf Tools (Maine) and Makita USA (Georgia). We will try our best to be civil over the next week with our long-time and reliable Supplier, Makita USA! :)
David's new Snow Machine: You may remember that I shared with you a photo of my Honda track drive snow blower and a gigantic pile of snow a few years ago. I used it as an example of how the right machine helps you get the job done quickly and effectively. In response, I enjoyed many of your emails sharing your "Snow Toys/Tools", most of which were many times bigger and more effective than mine. Always looking for the next "best solution", this summer I invested in an 8 year old John Deere 540 tractor with a 47 inch snow blower and only 200 hours of run time. Liquid cooled engine, two stage snow thrower, locking differential, hydraulic lift and steering, new chains and lots of removable weights in the back. WOW, what an incredible machine! It has been a true joy to throw lots of snow this winter and now I'm always charged up about the next snow storm on the way. It is a pleasant reminder that the right machine will make your life a lot more enjoyable. Perhaps it is time for you to consider a new Mafell or Makita tool to help you do your job even better.....with an even bigger smile on your face, and a back that feels better at the end of the day.
I think ten points of NEWS is enough. My sincerest thanks to anyone who has taken the time to read all of them. You're wonderfully patient with me.
Wishing you a Super 2017,
David and the Timberwolf Tools Team
