Hope you are ready for some crisp Fall air (my favorite season) after the hottest Summer ever recorded. Our German Shepherd/Husky mix is certainly enjoying our walks more :) Business is still scorching hot as well, with our vendors working extra shifts to keep our shelves stocked.

Fun at SepTimberFest 2021

David enjoyed seeing many of you at the Timber Framers Guild event in Vermont! I heard there were lots of wood chips made, with the Mafell NFU 50 Groove Cutter leading the charge. This new tool is revolutionizing the way timber framers are constructing their knee braces, so we will follow up with an in-depth newsletter comparing our various Routers & Notchers soon.

The Return of the Mafell K85Ec

K85Ec is Back The Mafell K85Ec Circular Saw (9-5/16" blade) now works with the special KSS Cross-Cutting Track—which formerly only worked with its fraternal twin the KSS 80Ec/370—so now the saws are identical except the KSS 80 comes with the track and the K85 does not. This makes it much easier to buy what you need without worrying about compatibility later, and as a result we have seen a resurgence of K85Ec orders!

The K85Ec has many fine features such as 60° beveling and easy depth adjustment, but the big difference between this saw and other <10” saws is the sheer power. Cameron at Blacktail Studio made an excellent Video earlier this year showing how this 2.4 hp saw easily cuts large slabs for a table in one pass where a Festool track saw would require three or four:

WoodOwl 12” Length Bits Available

For a limited time, WoodOwl has 12” length Ultra Smooth Tri-Cut Auger Bits in stock! Historically it has taken months and months to special-order these sizes from Japan, but WoodOwl recently announced that they have a few dozen of the 1” and 3/4" diameter available, first come first served. Definitely handy for installations where the 18” is too long or the 7.5” is too short. Please call us at 1-800-869-4169 to place an order (and allow a couple extra days for specialty orders like this to be fulfilled).

Grace Cynthia Powell was born July 21, 2021—healthy mom and healthy baby. Eternally thankful to David, Andrew and Nick for stepping up at Timberwolf Tools while I enjoyed some paternity leave! It turned out to be perfect timing for tired mom & dad to watch the Olympics :) Hoping you are also finding wins to celebrate during these challenging times.
