What a challenging world we live in today!  Timberwolf Tools just had its busiest January and February ever, but the virus threat has certainly changed everyone's perspective for the near future.  Let’s look on the bright side of having some extra time (a precious commodity) and consider how an investment today will pay valuable dividends tomorrow.

March is traditionally a big month of the year to invest in a Mafell Z5Ec 12" Portable Band Saw and we don’t expect a global pandemic to change that.  It’s no secret that this is one of our customers' favorite tools, even with the recent surge of interest in cabinet-making tools.  And every time I think we have this versatile band saw figured out, someone posts a video on Instagram or YouTube with a totally new application.

In the experience of our president David Powell, who has led Timberwolf Tools for over 20 years:

"For carpenters who work with large timbers, we have been told over and over and over again that the Mafell Z5Ec is the most important and reliable tool in their arsenal of high performance tools. It is a game changer, and thus we feel that we can essentially guarantee your happiness if you invest in one. In 14 years of representing Mafell, no customer has ever shown regret about their purchase or wanted to return a Mafell Z5Ec. It is truly the "Golden Tool" in our lineup of world class tools."

New Videos of the "Golden Tool" in Action:

Here are some videos showing the impressive capability of this portable band saw.  The first shows Mafell’s product trainer and master carpenter Oliver Hähnle cutting a detailed corbel in just over one minute:

STOP FLIPPING THOSE HEAVY TIMBERS!  The Mafell Z5Ec can cut using the left or right side of the saw, it can swivel the right-side blade out 30 degrees, and it can back out of cuts easily thanks to special Front & Rear-Cutting Blades.  Combine all that with the ripping proficiency of a band saw, and you have very few cuts that the Z5Ec cannot do—the only exception being those darn bevel cuts and compound miters…

…Actually I stand corrected, the Z5Ec can do compound miters as well! Just bring a friend who can hold up 15 pounds.  Shout-out to Tom Gensmer of Heritage Home Renewals, LLC in Minnetonka, Minnesota who helped two-man this cut with Oliver Hähnle below!

Here’s What Our Customers Have Been Saying Lately:

“The Mafell bandsaw is a familiar tool to me, so there have been no surprises - it performs very well. The bandsaw is a superb tool and an asset to my shop.”
-Will, Goosewing Timberworks

“Here is the deck frame that I put up last weekend - could absolutely never have done it without the chain mortiser and band saw - super fun build!”
-John Sorenson

“The saw has been very useful. I was a bit hesitant to make shoulder cuts and scarf joint cuts, but the saw tracks very well. Even thru 10” thick oak. I have noticed that the blades seem to dull rather quickly causing the blade to pull a bit. Overall, I’m very pleased.”
-Lee Sornson

“Amazing tool! 84 scroll cuts, still on the second blade - still cutting square!”
-Jake, Elevated Timberworks

Storing Your Tools:

We are often asked about Carrying Cases and tool storage systems because many of our customers are constantly on-the-go.  Mafell makes an excellent Trolley accessory to store the Z5Ec and move it around the shop, but many of you just build your own clever solutions.  Send us photos of your custom rigs!

One example that deserves kudos is Pat Sowers and the The Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters Apprentice and Training Program who made this multi-tool cart for their Mafell Z5Ec, LS 103Ec and ZSX Ec/400 tools with storage space for Universal Guides:

Another inspiring concept below is from Kris Goodreau at Goodreau Sawmill & Woodworking in Tilbury, Ontario.  They made wooden trolleys/boxes to store their portable band saw and chain beam saw when they are finished cutting curved arches:

Financing Blast from the Past:

We’ve seen an uptick in financing deals lately (including for the Mafell portable band saw) thanks to an old friend in the industry.  If you’ve known Timberwolf Tools long enough, you might remember Frank McCullough used to be our contact at Marlin Equipment Finance.  Frank left Marlin a few years ago and eventually joined NewLane Finance after his non-compete was over.  Since then, we’ve started giving customers multiple options when they are interested in financing tools, and Frank’s team seems to come out on top every time!  Perhaps it’s their better rates and faster process?

If you are interested in taking your business to the next level with a major equipment purchase such as an ARUNDA Dovetail System or ERIKA 85 Pull-Push Saw, please FILL OUT AN APPLICATION HERE or reach out directly to Steve Paul who personally handles our NewLane account:
